We are thrilled to share an incredible update from Foundation athlete, Melissa Keay, who has been dominating the greens over the past few months. From local titles to international scholarships, Melissa is proving that hard work and the “honest player” spirit truly pay off.
Defending The Title
The end of the 2025 season was a masterclass in composure for Melissa. In September, she reached the Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour Order of Merit (OOM) Final at the legendary Castle Stuart.
In a finish that can only be described as cinematic, Melissa sealed the victory with an eagle on the last hole to shoot even par. This spectacular performance allowed her to successfully retain her title as champion!
Podium Finishes & International Experience
Melissa’s momentum didn’t stop there. Her late-season run included several high-profile results:
Stephen Gallagher Foundation OOM (The Machrie): Reached the 36-hole final and finished T2.
Sky Sports Junior European Open: Competed against top international talent to secure a fantastic 5th-place finish in November.
The Off Season
While the winter months often mean a break for some, Melissa has been busier than ever. She has balanced several training weekends and a week-long intensive camp in Spain with the Scotland squad.
True to the Foundation’s values of balancing sport and growth, Melissa is also tackling four Highers this year, showing the same dedication in the classroom as she does on the course.
Texas Bound
Perhaps the biggest news of all is Melissa’s future. Following a visit to Texas Tech, she has been offered a full scholarship to join their golf program.
Melissa will be heading to the States in August 2027. This is a life-changing opportunity and a testament to her world-class potential. We are incredibly proud to have played a part in her journey toward this milestone.
Congratulations, Melissa! We can’t wait to see what the 2026 season brings before you head across the pond.
