We are incredibly proud to share a major update from the pool. Foundation athlete Magnus Morris recently returned from the British Championships in London.
Competing at this level means sharing the pool with the absolute best in Britain. With national and international records being shattered throughout the meet, the atmosphere was electric and the competition was world-class.
Double PBs at the Trials
Magnus rose to the occasion, delivering standout performances in both of his signature sprint events. Despite the high-pressure environment, he stayed composed and clocked new Personal Bests in both races:
50m Freestyle: 23.48 (a 0.15s improvement)
50m Butterfly: 25.22 (a 0.22s improvement)
Magnus’ speed allowed him to climb the national rankings, placing 50th out of approximately 100 of the fastest swimmers in the country in both events.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
Magnus was quick to highlight how the Murray Sharp Foundation helped him prepare for this elite stage. The sponsorship provided for this season allowed Magnus to acquire a new high-performance race suit, which he noted felt “amazing” and helped dramatically with his speed in the water.
Additionally, the Foundation was able to support his accommodation near the pool, ensuring he was well-rested and focused entirely on his performance rather than a long commute.
The Journey Continues
Seeing Magnus compete at the British Championships and shave precious time off his personal bests is exactly why we do what we do. By removing the financial hurdles of elite equipment and travel, we allow athletes to focus on what they do best: performing.
