Ross Laird: Kicking Off the University Season with Back-to-Back Podium Finishes

We are delighted to bring you a fresh update from our sponsored athlete, Ross Laird.

As the university academic year gets underway, so does the competitive golf season, and Ross has wasted no time in making his mark with a series of excellent performances.

A Strong Start in Sweden and the UK

First up for Ross was a trip to Scandinavia for the R&A Student Tour Series in Halmstad, Sweden, which took place from the 10th to the 12th of September. Competing against a talented international field, Ross demonstrated fantastic skill and composure to secure an outstanding 2nd place finish. A brilliant result to kick off the season!

Hot on the heels of his success in Sweden, Ross returned to compete in the BUCS Autumn Trophy from the 22nd to the 24th of September. As the reigning champion for the past two years, Ross fought hard in the competition and once again proved his consistency and class, securing an incredible 2nd place finish.

Reflecting on his recent results, Ross told us: “Overall a lot of positives from these events and can hopefully build on this on the events to come.”

This determined and positive mindset is a huge part of what makes Ross such a formidable competitor, and we are incredibly proud of his start to the season.

What's Next for Ross?

The action doesn’t stop there, with two more significant events on the calendar for Ross before the end of the year.

His immediate focus is the next R&A Student Tour Series event at Malone Golf Club in Belfast. He will be teeing it up from Tuesday, 7th October to Thursday, 9th October.

To round off 2025 in style, Ross has received a prestigious invitation to play in The Patriot invitational tournament. This exciting event will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, from the 29th to the 31st of December. This is a fantastic opportunity and a testament to the hard work and dedication he continues to put into his game.

We want to wish Ross the very best of luck for his upcoming tournaments in Belfast and Arizona. The entire team at The Murray Sharp Foundation is cheering you on! We will be sure to keep everyone updated on his progress.
