Summer on the Links & Heading to the US: An Update from Golfer Scott Newman

At the Murray Sharp Foundation, supporting our athletes means standing alongside them through every round, every cut made, and every mile traveled. Today, we are excited to share a summer season update from sponsored golfer Scott Newman as he completes an action-packed schedule across Scotland’s finest courses!

A Strong Start on Home Soil

Scott kicked off his summer competitive run in sensational form at the Renfrewshire Men’s Stroke Play at Kilmacolm Golf Club. Firing impressive rounds of level par and 4-under par, Scott delivered a masterclass in consistency to secure a fantastic 2nd place finish.

From there, Scott tackled a high-caliber lineup of premier Scottish amateur events, testing his game against top fields and challenging links conditions:

  • Scottish Men’s Open Pre-Qualifier: (Prestwick St Nicholas): Shot a hard-fought 3-under par, narrowly missing the qualification mark by a single shot.
  • The Tennent Cup (Glasgow Gailes Links): Bathed in classic links conditions, putting in solid work over two grueling rounds (5-over and 6-over).
  • East of Scotland Men’s (Lundin Links): Posted competitive scores of 4-over and 2-over against a strong national field.
  • Cameron Corbett Vase (Haggs Castle): Showed great resilience by posting rounds of 77 and 72 to successfully make the cut, following up with 76 and 77 to earn a respected T30 finish.

Royal Aberdeen & Crossing the Atlantic

Scott’s summer campaign culminates on one of golf’s grandest stages: competing in the Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship hosted across the historic, world-renowned links of Royal Aberdeen and Murcar Golf Clubs.

Following the conclusion of his Scottish summer tour, Scott will be packing his bags and heading back across the Atlantic on the 21st of August 2026 to resume his college golfing career in the United States!

Fuelling Elite Potential

Navigating elite amateur events across Scotland and preparing for international collegiate golf, demands incredible commitment, discipline, and financial investment.

The Murray Sharp Foundation is proud to support Scott on his journey, helping remove financial barriers so he can focus on performing at the highest level.

We want to congratulate Scott on a fantastic summer of golf and wish him the best of luck as he returns to the U.S. later this month!
