Magnus Morris delivers record breaking performance at National Championships

Magnus Morris has concluded the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships with a series of remarkable performances. The national competition, which was held from July 19th to 25th in Sheffield, saw Morris compete in four events and achieve a personal best in every single one, a true testament to his unwavering dedication and undeniable hard work.

The highlight of the meet for Morris was undoubtedly the 50-meter freestyle, achieving a new personal best that earned him a 12th place finish in Britain for the 17-18 age group category. This impressive time holds a special place in Scottish swimming history, as it ties for 11th on the all-time list for 18-year-old swimmers, a record he now shares with his coach, Martyn Walton.

In addition to his solo success, Morris competed in the 50-meter backstroke and contributed to his team in both the 4×100 and 4×200 freestyle relays, once again achieving personal bests across the board. This strong performance has led to him qualifying for the Commonwealth Trials next year, which will be held in London. This is a major step forward for the young athlete as he sets his sights on representing his country on a national stage.

Morris expressed his sincere gratitude to the Murray Sharp Foundation who helped fund his accommodation during the championships. With the competition now over, he will be taking a well-earned break from the pool before returning to competitive swimming at the British University Championships in October. His recent performance marks a pivotal moment in his career and sets a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
