Local swimmer Magnus Morris is reflecting on a fantastic weekend of racing after a hugely successful competition at the Scottish Summer Meet 2025 in Aberdeen.
It proved to be an outstanding competition for Magnus. He competed in four separate events over the course of the meet and came away with an impressive haul of three gold medals and one silver medal.
Beyond the impressive medal tally, Morris was particularly pleased with his performance against the clock. He managed to swim new personal best (PB) times in three of his events. In a remarkable display of stamina and determination, for each of those three events, Magnus set a new PB in the morning heat to qualify for the final, only to dig deeper and set another, even faster, PB in the final later that day. This outstanding effort resulted in a total of six personal best times from his eight races over the weekend.
The strong showing in Aberdeen will serve as the perfect preparation for his next challenge. Next week, Magnus will head to Sheffield for the British Summer Championships. That competition will be particularly significant as it will mark his final meet as a junior competitor, bringing a major chapter of his swimming career to a brilliant close. This will take place on 24th July.
