We are delighted to announce an incredibly exciting schedule for one of our supported golfers, Ross Laird, who is poised to represent Scotland on some of golf’s most prestigious stages in the coming weeks. The Foundation is proud to champion this talented individual, who recently shared an update on his packed calendar.
The coming weeks promise a flurry of high-profile appearances, showcasing Ross’s rising prominence in the amateur ranks. This week alone, he is competing in the Brabazon Trophy at Hankley Common, having received a coveted direct invite from Scottish Golf, bypassing the need for pre-qualification.
Following this, Ross was honoured with selection to the Scottish team for a friendly match against South Africa at the renowned Renaissance Golf Club. This highly anticipated match serves as ideal preparation for the Scottish Men’s Open Championship Scottish Men’s Open Championship held in North Berwick at the end of this month.
Perhaps the most significant selection comes with an invitation to the Palmer Cup, where Ross will represent the ‘Rest of the World’ team against the USA. This esteemed event is scheduled to take place from June 7th to 9th at the Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina. This elite selection was earned through an outstanding performance, finishing second place in the R&A Order of Merit and securing several top finishes throughout the season.
Ross’s packed schedule concludes with the ultimate test of amateur golf, the British Amateur, held from June 16th to June 21st at the historic Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports courses.
Ross has expressed his sincere gratitude for the vital backing that allows him to pursue these significant opportunities.
The Murray Sharp Foundation is thrilled to see him embark on such an ambitious and exciting journey. His dedication and recent achievements highlight the impact of the Foundation’s support in nurturing emerging talent in the sport. We wish him the very best in all his upcoming endeavors!
